Mehreen Yousaf

My favourite experience was working with a small multimedia organisation providing coverage for gigs and concerts across the Midlands. Interacting with up and coming musicians and artists, learning from them and witnessing the slow, organic growth and merch-clad fan bases in these lesser-known cultural hubs was the best way to familiarise myself with the city. More recently, I was involved with a non-profit in India that works at the intersection of gender and politics as a research and communications intern. In the future, I plan on further pursuing my education in media studies. I am also invested in learning more about environmental justice and was part of UpRising Birmingham’s Environmental Leadership Cohort from 2018-19. In my downtime, I like to read, play monopoly with my nieces, take on unsuccessful baking projects with my friends and watch nice films.
